Today the lighting sector accounts for roughly 19 % of world electricity consumption, which corresponds to around 1,890 Mt of CO₂ emitted per year. Intelligent overall strategies, combining daylight with pioneering energy-efficient systems of artificial lighting, are capable of reducing electricity consumption and contributing significantly to diminishing global energy and resource consumption.
